Cara Golden

Cara Golden is an interdisciplinary artist from San Diego, California. She holds a B.A. from San Diego State University in Applied Arts and Design.

Golden’s current body of work is a critical study of traditional craft-oriented arts, with an emphasis in utilitarianism and materiality. While this exploration spans across many disciplines, her process involves conventional textile and pottery techniques such as knitting, netting, weaving, basketry, coiling, wheel throwing, and slip casting, mixed with unconventional alterations and firing processes. This tactile experience is experimental, and aimed to bring attention to the historical importance of craft and design, in a contemporary setting.
